Enerpace Grows Agile Leaders Who Grow Purpose-Driven Firms

Why Agile? Because it’s the only way to survive in a VUCA world. VUCA is an acronym coined by the military to describe the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous conditions that are encountered on a battlefield. VUCA is also often used to describe the environment in which business is conducted every day.

Why Purpose-Driven? Because everything we do is built upon our client’s Mission, Vision and Values. This integration is vital for empowering the company’s goals and driving employee engagement.

Simply Stated, Coaching Improves Employee Engagement

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to lead effectively in today’s complex and rapidly changing business environment. Employees at all levels are asked to do more and more — with less and less — and are feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and stressed out. They need help navigating the complicated business landscape and handling the pressures from increased demands, high workloads, and the challenges of running cross-functional projects while working on diverse teams. Coaching helps by providing much needed support and strategies for not only surviving, but thriving under these difficult circumstances.

There’s a proven connection between employee engagement and better business outcomes.

We’d welcome the opportunity to share with you some of our Enerpace success stories. But the results of a very large Gallup analysis speaks volumes about the value of coaching for companies to improve employee engagement. Gallup analyzed the differences in performance between engaged and actively disengaged business/work units. The study covers more than 82,000 teams — over 1.8 million employees — in 230 organizations across 49 industries and in 73 countries.

The results were astounding! Employees scoring in the top quartile on employee engagement significantly outperformed those in the bottom quartile on these crucial performance outcomes:

How we work

Want a successful business? Align your employees with your business strategy.

Many companies struggle to achieve alignment from the top to the front lines of the organization. Enerpace’s methodology gets you there by using the pyramid shown below.

Our process typically starts at the bottom of the pyramid and moves upward from tier to tier, ending with improved employee engagement at the top. Every organization is different. Yours may not need work on each level. We can start at the level that’s appropriate for your company.

A strong foundation is the key. We start at the bottom of the pyramid by making sure you have a clear picture of your company’s mission, vision and values. Once the foundation is completed, we ascend to the next level by establishing goals that attain your vision and knocking down any barriers that would impede your company from meeting those goals. Then, roles and responsibilities are established, and a performance management system is put in place so that employees know what’s expected of them in their current role. Finally, career development tools are established to prepare employees for their future professional aspirations.

At the top of the pyramid, your employees are engaged and properly motivated. Their engagement will be reflected in their work, and your organization will see quantifiable improvements in performance measurements such as productivity, profits, and sales.

Special Programs That Are Unique To Enerpace

In today’s business environment, agility is one of the most important capacities for leaders to possess. We live in a “VUCA” world – one characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. The current crisis has shown us that now, more than ever, businesses must be agile enough to respond to whatever comes our way.

90% of executives believe agility is essential for business growth and success. Yet most of them agree their company isn’t agile enough. High performing companies have more agile cultures. It’s a competitive advantage. Agile organizations are only created by agile leaders.

Leadership Agility can be thought of as a master competency, which enables us to make the best decisions and choose the best course of action when the world around us is changing quickly. Agile leaders know that their mastery of the 4 types of agility have prepared them to recognize, adapt and operate effectively no matter what lies around the bend:

  • Stakeholder agility
  • Context-setting agility
  • Creative agility
  • Self-leadership agility

At expert levels, agile leaders are visionaries capable of catalyzing transformational change. They develop high performing teams and collaborate with others to develop creative solutions to the toughest challenges.

Enerpace is certified in the Leadership Agility instruments and speaks and trains frequently on this topic.

Coaching can help address challenges that show up at the intersection of family, or investors, and business. Imagine needing to fire your own sibling or child? Or, having to answer to a short-sighted investor concerned more about near-term returns than long-term growth?

Our Enerpace team includes a specialist in the unique dynamics of family businesses, having run his own family’s firm for decades. We can:

  • Help current leaders manage a smooth transition to the next-generation.
  • Reinforce the skills of families in management positions to keep up with rapid growth.
  • Identify skills needed by next-generation family members to become the leaders in the future.
  • Find positive ways for family members to better interact with non-family employees.

The leaders of investor-owned firms may have a variety of different experiences, depending on the ownership level and involvement of the investor. Enerpace has helped many leaders survive and thrive by learning to build productive, value-added relationships with this very special stakeholder.

You have your pedal to the metal in the business world, but even race car drivers know they need an occasional pit stop for fuel and tires to continue functioning safely and at peak performance.

Leading your organization through significant change often entails jumping from one challenge to another, making decisions without adequate information. To add to the difficulty, you may only be able to connect to your team virtually through video conferencing, texts and instant messaging. To sustain performance in dynamic high-pressure environments, effective mid-race adjustments are required.

Are your functional leaders aligned? Has your team been able to respond to changes in demand, supply chain issues and employees working virtually? What message and tone have you set for your organization?

During periods of rapid change, we can afford no wasted effort. The virtual pit stop allows your team to take a “Structured Pause” – just long enough to review what’s working, and how to better align execution through the long race ahead.  Sometimes, we all need to slow down, assess the track conditions, and then get quickly back up to speed.

In this interactive team meeting, we will:

  • Assess how well you’re working together as a team through the current challenges
  • Prioritize where the team needs to focus for maximum effectiveness
  • Identify behaviors the leadership team needs to emphasize moving forward – first as a team, and then individually, using breakout rooms
  • Gain alignment on how the team will modify behavior moving forward
  • Create personal action plans to implement the specific effectiveness opportunities for each leader

Afterwards, we’ll schedule 3 monthly check-ins. These 45 to 60-minute virtual sessions will provide you with accountability as a leadership team. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to make any necessary course corrections before getting back “on the track” – both as a team and as individual leaders.
