All of the following were posted in Enerpace’s social media during Get Caught Reading month of May 2022. However, I use and recommend these books so much with coaching and my clients that I thought I would share them in an article. All of the following books are on Leadership!
- “The EQ Edge – Emotional Intelligence & Your Success” – I’m starting out my leadership book recommendations with the most fundamental competency of them all! Numerous studies have proven that the most successful leaders, those that reach the top of the corporate ladder, are the ones with the highest EQ, NOT the highest IQ. This book is a great introduction to EQ competencies and includes great case studies that demonstrate the remarkable ROI possible with various applications of EQ criteria.
- “Five Conversations: How to transform trust, engagement & performance at work” – The most successful leaders know how to get results with and through people. At the heart of that success are these 5 critical conversations. The book provides simple instructions, templates and sample scripts that make it easy to hold even the most potentially awkward conversation – addressing unhelpful behavior. I recommend this weekly AND Enerpace partners with the Oxford Group to offer this valuable training to our clients. Contact us for more information!
- “Quiet Leadership” – Take a ‘coach approach’ to leading your people by using the principles of brain science to help them think differently and increase performance.
- “Leadership Agility” – I introduce this model in some form to everyone I coach. In all my years of business education, 15 years in coprorate leadership and now 20 years as an entrepreneur, I have never found another model that admits that the world is changing too fast for any one leadership theory to work in all situations. Instead, by mastering the 4 key types of agility, a leader will know they’re ready to handle whatever may come – – even when we can’t even imagine what comes next. This model was hugely helpful during covid to help adjust my thinking to focus on the areas I could still navigate.
- “EP – The Missing Link Between Merit & Success” – Executive Presence is intangible and hard to define. It’s one of the most common areas that folks want to work on in leadership coaching. The author breaks down the 2 most important components – gravitas and communication – into competencies that can be built and demonstrated. Practical, achievable and, no surprise, emotional intelligence plays a big role in EP too!
Enjoy Reading!
